Look at this!

I just brought home some of these things to put in the yard. And some of these, as well, for the horse pasture, most likely.

And some of these, which are beautiful.

See? Of course, they won't look like this until fall. In another year, or three.

It's Spring! It's Spring! We can plant things! The sun is coming back!

Actually, everything looks sort of like plain little sticks, just now. I see the potential, though. Like most things that matter, it just takes some vision and some blisters.

Gardening plans, everyone?

Absolutely gorgeous, Mac!

But, here, my eyelids are cold...not spring. Yet.

I adore gardening, it's my thing. Dirt is my friend.

Since I rent, I do container, mostly. Some bulbs. They came up for a bit, snow, they turned around and went right back under. Smart bulbs. Don't know what will happen now. Probably like my eyelids...

Ah--containers are so much fun, though, JM--I keep a jasmine in a huge terra cotta pot, upstairs on the deck. The whole deck smells incredible and dreamy on warm summer evenings.

Also, it's easier to keep the thing alive through the winter, that way.

Something is always blooming here (I miss winter - I'll be moving north again before long). The tropical plants the rest of the country spends big money on, grow wild in my yard, so I don't plant a lot of flowers.

I plan to plant a vegetable garden - onions, garlic, tomatoes, beans, peas... I don't care so much about whether I get a good crop. It's the joy of working my hands into the soil.

I love my containers, Mac. Stuff a bunch of lettuce in them too. Then plant some tomatoes in the ground. Only problem is, trying to hide them from the deer!

I do my best to disguise my salad food among my flowers. Fooling deer isn't easy.

Ah, the smell of jasmine-stop it! Can't keep it during the winter around here. I wish.

I'm sure if I tried to plant something the hired gardners would come and hack them down. If it isn't familiar it's a weed. If it is familiar it needs to be pruned within a nanometer of it's life. Grass should be soaked twice a day whether or not we've gotten six feet of rain. The lovely vines that cover the ugly fence need to be removed each spring so we can enjoy the brown wood all summer long. *sigh*

Dawno has a hired gardner? snerk, snerk, snerk. Yes, Dawno, that required 3 snerks, minimum. Get your butt out there and do it yourself!!! w/o the twinklies, otherwise you'll radiate the poor things you're trying to grow. It's great for relieving stress. Really is. Kola follows me around and so do the kitties.

I live in a rental. The property mgmt. does the yard work and I don't get an opt out on that. When I owned my own home I had someone come to mow but I did all the gardening. I enjoyed it.

I'm sorry, Dawno. Plant something anyway, in a container. Put a biohazard sign on it. That will keep the hired gardner away.

I wonder if I tried that if it would keep my landlord away? Ya think...

I thought it was spring, but then I woke up this morning to the sounds of solid moisture hitting my bedroom window.
