I don't have any links for this

My housemate (she's a dialysis and critical care nurse) just informed me that a doctor has managed to procure a New Orleans area Wa* Mart. He's setting it up to help the most medically compromised, out of that facility.

He only has five staffing volunteers so far, but she signed up to go. She goes on the hero list, too.

This is what it's going to take. We are going to have to do this ourselves.

Where's the Wal-Mart located? Does he need untrained volunteers or volunteers with more minimal training? What supplies does he need? How can non-medical personal assist him?

Lori--I don't know any specifics, yet. She gave him my number as a contact person. As I find out more information, I'll post it.

Let's hope the Doctor and volunteer staff don't get accused of "looting". As more stories unfold of this disaster and the response to the disaster, I am really distressed at how U.S. authorities seem incapable of interpreting people's behaviour in any other way than as "right" or "wrong", "criminal" or "lawful", and further, that this complete lack of understanding and ability to grasp the needs and responses of humans in crisis, is contributing to the escalation of this disaster. Katrina illustrates just what is at stake when the fundamental building blocks of social comprehension are missing from those who are in power, and the consequences for those who have no power...

Ms M--more than anything else, this administration's response to the citizens affected by this catastrophe underscores the utter contempt the neo-con millionaires actually hold for the average American citizen.

I am sickened and appalled. I also don't know why we haven't pulled the White House down around this callous fucker's ears--with our bare hands, if necessary.

Metaphorically speaking, of course.
