I might as well warn you now...

The holidays are coming. I love the winter holidays, unabashedly. I'm sentimental and silly as a little kid about it, really.

Just so you have fair warning.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and I'm terribly excited. I walk around planning menus in my head. Not that I'm cooking for anyone. Still, one should give these things a great deal of thought.

Perhaps it will snow. *Happy thought!* Of course, it only snows about once every few years, here. Far more likely it will be partly cloudy, with highs in the 50s, and scattered showers.

That's okay. It will be Thanksgiving day. I will watch the Macy's parade, and cook delicious things for myself, and dig out the Christmas music, which will replace all the normal music in the house, until my housemates rebel outright.

And perhaps it will snow.

Let it snow, let it snow!!!

I love the holidays too, Mac. Thanksgiving w/ the aunt and uncle and cousins. Macy's Day parade, maybe a little football thrown in. Yup, that's the ticket.

Christmas in Calif. w/ no snow *sad* when it's cold, it's supposed to snow!! Dang it all. And what's Christmas w/o the music??

Ah, Holiday Music. I'm a big fan. I miss being in a big pagent or chorale.

On Thanksgiving day eve the local radio station will go over to 24 hr a day holiday songs. A couple years ago I posted in my blog about some of the music they played. One of the more infamous ones was that hep cat Andy Williams' "Holiday Season" with the immortal line: "So whoop de do and dickery dock, don’t forget to hang up your sock, ‘cause just exactly at twelve o’clock, he’ll be comin’ down the chimney, down."

Now, that's gooooood music. hee hee

Ohhh, I'm with ya on most points, Mac.

I love Thanksgiving!
I love Christmas!
I love the idea of snow but hate it when it snows here because it's always accompanied with a lot of ice and I'm effectively housebound when that happens.

But, yeah, the music. I love it. There used to be a radio station out of Tulsa that played only Christmas music from Thanksgiving Day on until Christmas night. They got bought out a couple years ago and don't do that anymore.

I've got to find my Christmas CDs.

I never miss the Macy's Day parade. If the pumpkin pie I'll be making from the pumpkins in our garden wouldn't spoil, I'd send you one for the holiday. Enjoy your day!

I'm not a big fan of Thanksgiving only because I usually help my mom with all the cooking. So, I'm seing and smelling delicious food for hours but when it's time to eat, my brother gets to it first. By the time he piles up food on his plate, there isn't much left for me.

But I do love the snow. It snows at least once every year here but we usually only get about an inch or two. It never sticks either, but I guess it's better than none at all, right?

I'd love winter too if I lived on the Left Coast like *some* people.

"Real" winter is -20 with gale-force winds, dead car batteries, 18" of snow and (sob) frozen creeks!

Mac, you're spoiled. A weather-weinie. No wonder The Hat has no ear flaps. (I'd modify it when, I mean if, it should come into my possession.) :)

Frank, are you bragging or complaining? I've tried to understand why people continue to live in the arctic wastes (that's anything north of my latitude which I consider sub arctic) but aside from a inconceivable love of short, bitterly cold, nights I'm lost.

I start to bundle up when the temps drop below 75 degrees F. All this makes me pine for my childhood summers in the Mojave Desert where three tumbleweeds spray-painted white = "snowman".

I think I meant to say 'winters' instead of 'summers' up there. The cold is making my brain sluggish.

I'd give anything if the temperature would dip below fifty. Would someone please send me some brown and yellow leaves, please.

They're a bit past their prime now, but send me your address and I can send you a big box.

Frank, you goofy guy--I grew up eight miles south of the Canadian border, in easter Montana.

I know from winter.

I'm lovin' the left coast 50-degree version.

It's going to snow around here!

I'm not sure about Thanksgiving (seems like I just eat and watch TV a lot), but I love Christmas. Just not what people are making of it at the mall. I hate Christmas shopping. I spent a lot of Christmases caroling and doing concerts and going to parties. Fun time. It'll probably take me to April to get all the Christmas songs out of my head, though.

You're out of your mind... :-)

Snow SUX! We get it every year, with clockwork regularity. Around here we have two seasons: winter, and construction. Or winter, and getting ready for winter. Take your pick.

I'd love to trade with you. Tell ya what -- I'll go outside right now and ball some up, stick it in a box and mail it to you. Then when it gets there, you can throw it up in the air and pretend! (Warning: have an umbrella handy. Snow content may settle during shipping.)

Well, I hope it snows for you, anyway. Enjoy the parade and have a happy Thanksgiving! (And a snowy one, if you're sure that's what you really, really want...)
